The war against religious freedom continues to wage in America as radical secularist groups, like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and its allies, attempt to indoctrinate our culture with their anti-Christian agenda. Even today, as you read this message, the battle to uphold marriage as the union between one man and one woman - as was affirmed by the votes of 7 million Californians - is being fought in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in the nation-shaping case, Perry v. Schwarzenegger. A victory in this case is not only critical for the preservation of marriage in America as God intended, but also for the preservation of our democratic system, which upholds the results of our citizens' votes.
This is just one of the many tremendous challenges to religious freedom that we'll face in 2010. By God's grace, the generous contributions from our Ministry Friends have allowed us to fund over 2,000 cases and projects for our allies and win nearly 300 cases directly litigated by ADF attorneys since the founding of our ministry. However, there were many more threats to religious freedom that our resources simply did not allow us to undertake. It is clear that we must increase our litigation capacity so we can respond to the urgent legal needs of many more Christians whose God-given rights are being denied in our schools, the workplace, and the public square. But we can only do this with continued financial support and prayers from the Body of Christ (John 15:5). The future of religious freedom in America depends on it.
